Originally destined for the Schliebs blend this parcel of Mataro stood out in barrel crying to be bottled separately. Some French oak furniture forms the structure padded with savoury and earthy scents and smells. Fruit of the briary rosehip kind and herbal. We bottled this wine for Rootstock 2016 but it wasn’t ready yet, I distinctly remember a guy telling me you must let me know when you release this, I assured him I would but didn’t keep his details YKWYA. With some extra time in bottle our ugly duckling has matured into a graceful swan.
