Smallfry Quick Update May 2014

Smallfry Brisbane dinners July 2014.

Hi….

Welcome to our new subscribers.

Thanks for the great response to the special on Barossa Riesling in Sydney, we have a similar situation with the last few boxes of 2012 Joven in Brisbane that we would like to move, perhaps not quite so cheaply, thinking about $150 plus freight please reply to this email if you are interested.

Brisbane has always been a good market for us but our old distributer changed direction and it took a while to find the right people to replace them but we now have Peter Rogers from Naked Bunch looking after our wines in Queensland and Northern NSW and he is quite a dynamo. Further to his activities I will be up there for a couple of wine dinners on 16th and 17th of July.

Wednesday 16th is at Urbane Restaurant 181 Mary St, Brisbane QLD 4000 (07) 3229 2271 and will be focussed on biodynamic winemaking in the marketplace, Peter is doing the talking and I will be there in a supporting role to field questions about farming practices, wines will be a range of BD and natural wines from Peter’s portfolio and beyond (including ours of course).

Thursday 17th is at Cabiria 61 Petrie Terrace, Brisbane QLD 4000 (07) 3368 2666 while the details are still being finalised this is more my gig and a chance to show off our new release 2014 wines and some old favourites as well.

Either way if you have the opportunity to come and join us I’m sure they will be fun nights. Please make bookings directly with the establishments.

We showed our 2014 Rieslings and Schlieb’s Garden blend at the annual Barons of the Barossa First Taste of Vintage tasting last week and had a very reassuring response from some of the best in the biz. It is always a bit daunting to have people like Louisa Rose, Jim Irvine or Stephen Henschke looking at your new wine, to get positive feedback from people of that calibre helps so much as being a small winemaker can be a very lonely place. Thankfully here in the Barossa we have a very strong winemaking culture that supports each other in many ways.

Cheers

Wayne and Suzi
